Our Trusted Legacy in the Marine Industry
With over 100 years in the marine industry, we are proud to be a fourth-generation, family-owned business, deeply rooted in the world of boating. From humble beginnings in a small repair shop in Waukegan, Illinois, to building the iconic Hewes boats along the Miami River, we’ve always been driven by a passion for the water.
From Boat Building to Iconic Fishing Models
Our story began when Great Grandfather Lou Hewes moved his family to South Florida in the 1920s, opening a shop that sold Johnson outboard motors and small boats. His son, Bob Hewes, followed in his footsteps after WWII, creating innovative models like the Hewes Redfisher and Bonefisher to meet the growing demand for shallow-water sports fishing boats. Bob’s legacy also includes the Hewes Wildcat, designed specifically for his daughter, Lorrie, who was a competitive water skier.
Growing Through Generations
In the 1980s, Lorrie and her husband, Jim Wiborg, took over the business and grew it from a single location to multiple dealerships, partnering with some of the most respected names in the marine industry, including Hewes, Maverick, Pathfinder, Robalo, Monterey, and Regulator.
